HEART IS HOME MEDITATION
Print Version

Sit in a very comfortable position. Use a blanket or a pillow to make your body feel relaxed. Place your hands on your knees or in your lap. Softly close your eyes. Take a long, deep breath down into your belly. Breath out slowly and empty your belly. Take another deep breath into your back and breath out as slowly as you can. Grow your spine up towards the sky. Feel your chest rise up and open. Take a big breath into your lungs. As you breath out slowly, look into your body, towards your heart.

Imagine what your heart looks like. Take a few breaths and pretend like you are watching your heart breathe...... Now, imagine what your heart looks like when you drawa picture of it. Pretend that your heart has a door. What does the door look like? What is it made of? How big or small is it? What is the shape? Look at the doorknob. What does it look like?

Imagine yourself opening the door of you heart and walking inside. Slowly begin to walk around the inside of your heart. Notice what is around you. Are there any people or animals there? Do you hear any sounds? Are there smells? Take a few moments to explore the inside of your heart.

Now, imagine yourself sitting right in the center of your heart, just as you are sitting now, quiet and relaxed. Hear and feel your heartbeat beneath you, above you, and all around you. Listen to the rhythm of you very own heartbeat. Try to breath to the rhythm of your heart.

When you are finished visiting the inside of your heart, slowly walk to the doorway and quietly walk outside. You may close the door or leave it open. Say thank you in your own way to your heart and remember that you can always come back here when you want to relax and find peace.
